Power conditioning has become a widely accepted upgrade
in home theater installations, yet few power cords are shielded and other
powerline noise problems remain. For example, harmonics of the power frequency,
which are sometimes severe enough to make transformers hum, create voltage
ripples in the DC output of component power supplies, resulting in compressed
